[Advocacy-outreach] Fwd: [Communications] Starting a Community Garden

Hello all,

It's not surprising that the pandemic shifted everything we knew and a
surge in gardening happened, offering a balm; it helped to keep people from
worry and helped them become more resilient. There's email to CCGA
Communcations and Education with requests for help starting new community
gardens in Chicago. We will all likely need to pitch in if the requests
keep coming this fast. Julie wrote a helpful manual on how to start a
garden and it's on our website
http://chicagocommunitygardens.org/starting-a-community-garden/. It
should be easier to find rather than having to start at the top and scroll
from Resources there down to DIY Guides to find it. .Do we need a uniform
first response to these emails to gather more information, using some of
the questions in Julie's guide to establish common ground? These new
gardens will need resources, seeds, soil, lumber...etc. Anyone interested
in working on a draft from Julie's guide?

It strikes me as the very purpose of Advocacy and Outreach to help these
folks get started, but the requests aren't going to them. Communications
can forward them to A&O, but I think this is a multi team response. Hope
you agree.

Lorraine
