We currently have several serviceberry trees that we would love to offer to a community garden. We are limited by location, so if you know any community gardens within the South Side of Chicago that may be interested in a free tree planting, please forward my contact information. I am attaching a flyer with the information that you can share as well. Have you reminded folks about this or collected any stories? Have you set up the template or been in touch with Amy about this? We need to rethink this as it's a challenge to pull this together in less than a week, but still worth doing for a leter date. Kim, could you write up a short piece about the CEGA awards? I will work with May to get updates on soil testing and MWRD and the forever chemical contamination of soil, as well as the WeWill workshop. I have a piece pulled from all the Resources distributions and sales for the newsletter. Plenty more to pull together, pumpkin smash collections, etc. Lorraine On Thu, Oct 13, 2022 at 12:08 PM JW Glass via Education < education at chicagocommunitygardens.org> wrote: > Hello All, > > This is a reminder that the next CCGA coordinating meeting is NEXT TUESDAY > October 18 at 6pm. > > This will be a virtual Zoom meeting and the link is below. > > You can participate via your computer or just call in to the phone number. > The meeting will start at 6pm sharp. > > We are working on an agenda and if you have any specific agenda items to > add or suggest then email that note to > communications at chicagocommunitygardens.org. > > As an additional reminder, the 5 CCGA mailing lists are: > > resources at chicagocommunitygardens.org > > education at chicagocommunitygardens.org > > advocacy-outreach at chicagocommunitygardens.org > > communications at chicagocommunitygardens.org > > finance at chicagocommunitygardens.org > > JW Glass > > Communications Team Volunteer > > > -- > JW Glass > Chicago, Illinois > 312.498.3889 | james.wesley.glass at gmail.com > > -- > Education mailing list > Education at chicagocommunitygardens.org > > http://chicagocommunitygardens.org/mailman/listinfo/education_chicagocommunitygardens.org > -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... It is already time to think about 2023. It was brought up at the 10/18 coordinating meeting that we can get a head start on the conference and avoid being told by venues that we didn't contact them soon enough to secure the date(s) we wanted. So, we need to hear from everyone: Do we want to return to an in person conference? Is it less expensive and more sustainable to reach people with a virtual conference? Do we want a hybrid? Let's take a few comments to inform our agenda for the December meeting. Second, if we are to return to an in person conference, Gina and I brought up the fact that we have two venues already thoroughly vetted from 2020, and we had a good relationship with staff to build on for 2023. Those were Whitney M. Young Magnet School and Truman Community College. Let's make our December coordinating meeting the place to start actual conference planning, take a vote on what kind of conference we want, and enlist volunteers for the ad-hoc planning committee and planning meetings and a timeline.
