Communications team ---------- Forwarded message --------- From: Castillo, Zoe via Communications < communications at chicagocommunitygardens.org> Date: Mon, Jul 8, 2024, 10:13?AM Subject: [Communications] Community Garden Proposal To: Dear Chicago Community Gardeners Association, Greetings, we are Zoe Castillo and Lily Engelhardt, students at Whitney Young. We are working on a service learning project for my summer civics class at Whitney Young High School. In this project we must partner with an association to theoretically solve a problem in the Chicagoland area. We are trying to start a community garden on the south side of Chicago to try and solve the problem of food deserts and lack of healthy food. Would you be willing to be our partner in this issue and (if we acquire a plot of land) help us plant the vegetables and native prairie plants with some of your expert members? The community garden could be located somewhere on the southside of Chicago, preferably somewhere where accessing vegetables and fruits is difficult. One possible location would be 5727 S Halsted St, Chicago IL 60621. It is an empty plot of land with grass and some trees lining the right side. Thank you for your consideration. sincerely, Lily Engelhardt and Zoe Castillo -- Communications mailing list Communications at chicagocommunitygardens.org http://chicagocommunitygardens.org/mailman/listinfo/communications_chicagocommunitygardens.org -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... Please submit your proposal to CCGA that we may consider your plans and where or if we may be of assisttance. What efforts have you made to acquire the land or seek permission to use? There is some work you must do in advance of CCGA involvement and you will likely want to do that preliminary work on your own to start a project before engaging CCGA. Do you have a team of youth workers?
