The Chicago Park District is seeking qualified candidates to join our
Gardening team.

*Harvest Garden Camp Counselor* (part-time)
Each Camp Counselor (2400060) teaches 1 ½ hour gardening classes to small
groups of youth at five Chicago parks each week. Groups plant, maintain,
harvest and prepare food from the garden while considering their role in
the garden ecosystem and their relationship to land and community. While
classes are taught independently, counselors meet together each week for
training on lessons, and also work as a team to maintain gardens between
sessions.

Ideal candidates have an interest in gardening, food prep, and
environmental health, along with a desire to connect with kids while
gardening and cooking together. Experience in all areas is ideal, though
training will be provided as needed.

This is a part-time, 6-month position that runs from mid-April to
mid-October. The hours range from 15-25 per week and pay is $20.80 an hour.
During the spring and fall, classes take place after school. During the
summer, classes take place during the day within the summer day camp
program hours. Candidates must be willing to work outside in varying
weather conditions, travel to all areas of the city, work independently,
and have some college education. Apply here

by March 12.

*Program and Event Facilitator* (full-time)

The Program and Event Facilitator (2400160) will oversee Harvest Garden,
our city-wide youth gardening program. Responsibilities include
garden-based curriculum development, seasonal staff hiring and supervision,
and a range of administrative duties. This work will include communication
and coordination with park staff, representing the Chicago Park District to
the public, and providing support to the larger goals of the Environmental
Conservation & Engagement team. Candidates must be willing to travel to
Park District locations across the city. Occasional evening and weekend
hours required.

The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience in organic vegetable
gardening, working with youth in an educational setting, program
development and evaluation, and staff management. A Bachelor's Degree in
environmental education, recreation/leisure studies, natural resources,
biological sciences or a related field plus 1-3 years of related experience
is required. A complete position description and link to the online
application is here
<https://aa128.taleo.net/careersection/ex/jobdetail.ftl?job=2400160&tz=GMT-06%3A00&tzname=America%2FChicago>,
and is open until March 11. Anticipated salary is $71,590.
