Hi everyone,
I just talked with Ernita and have some more info about her event! I told her I would share these details with all of you, and then those who are interested in hosting her event can reach out to her directly.
Area of the city: Near Loop, West Loop, South Loop, up to Lincoln Park, south to Hyde Park, or can be further west, north, or south if close to public transportation and has parking
Time: Saturday, May 31. She’s thinking about 10am-Noon, could be flexible.
Attendees: Could be about 20 people, maybe more if gardeners and community members are also invited.
Description: This is a fundraiser for the Illinois chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. Ernita’s mom has Alzheimer’s and has been an avid gardener. She envisions that attendees will plant seedlings/bulbs they will provide as a donation to the garden. After planting, there will be light refreshments and small bites. She’d like a DJ and jazz music, and they’ll have a photographer. We also talked about sharing this event on our social media to amplify one another’s work and the message that gardening is beneficial for many areas of health.
Contact: Ernita Cooper, tel. 312-925-0366, email ernita at hotmail.com <mailto:ernita at hotmail.com>
Please reach out to Ernita if you’re interested and let me know you need my help!
