Come taste and learn about the journey from hive to jar at our annual event. Taste honey from around Chicago and learn what all the buzz is about. Free, all ages welcome! National Honey Bee Day Saturday, August 17 from 11am-2pm Come taste and learn about the journey from hive to jar at our annual celebration of National Honey Bee Day this Saturday at the Conservatory! National Honey Bee Day started in 2009 with a simple concept to unite beekeepers, bee associations, as well as other interested groups to connect with the communities to advance beekeeping. Did you know that honeybees are responsible for more than 1/3 of the food we eat? Our volunteer beekeepers will host demonstrations to show the role bees play with pollination and the food we eat, we’ll taste honey from around Chicago, and extract honey from our hives! This event is free and open to all ages. Kids and families can also enjoy bee themed projects during Fiddleheads from 12pm-4pm in the Play and Grow Garden. Last week of Goat Visits for the season! Plan a visit to come see these amazing animals from GlennArt Farm. This will be the last full week of our goat visitors this summer. Come see how much the kids have grown! Goats will be here August 17-23 from 10am-4pm and on Wednesday 11am-7pm, weather permitting. Not only do the goats maintain our weed populations while grazing, they provide lots of entertainment. Can't make it out for a visit this coming week? Goat you worry about a thing! A few goat visitors will be back for our annual Harvest Day event on Saturday, September 21! Learn more. Thank you to Wintrust for sponsoring National Honey Bee Day and Harvest Day! FOLLOW US ‌ ‌ ‌ BECOME A MEMBER The Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance changes lives through the power of nature.
