Green Infrastructure Program
Partnership Opportunity
We are excited to announce that the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) is accepting applications from municipal, township, county agencies, park districts, school districts, and other local government organizations within MWRD's corporate boundaries to fund projects that utilize green infrastructure until August 9th.

This form of infrastructure captures water and allows it to infiltrate into the ground before it enters the traditional conveyance system. This helps to reduce the amount of water flowing through pipes that can be overwhelmed by intense rain events.

Public agencies within the MWRD’s corporate boundaries are encouraged to submit an application online by visiting ** www.mwrd.org (https://gmail.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b968358480b7ff4ced14b47c4&id=f67b84c2fa&e=c4ca39f2f7)
. Eligibility requirements and instructions are included in the application form which can be found at

Grant money for stormwater projects
Based-off 1987 amendments made to the national Clean Water Act, the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency (IEPA) runs a grant program that assists in funding stormwater projects that help control waterway pollution. Called the 319 Grant Program, it provides financial support for non-pipe stormwater and water quality projects—such as streambank restoration, green, nature-based infrastructure, permeable pavement, etc. But there is a catch: applicants can only apply if a proposed project is within an IEPA approved watershed plan.

IEPA accepts applications for 319 grants every year, with the application materials due August 1^st. If you would like to know a little more about the 319 program, you can visit the website ** here (https://gmail.us3.list-manage.com/track/click?u=b968358480b7ff4ced14b47c4&id=de4c4bf540&e=c4ca39f2f7)

Great Lakes Restoration Initiative
2019 Request for Applications

More funding for green infrastructure installations: U.S. EPA is now accepting applications for grant funding through the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative 2019 program. Among other things, funding is available for green infrastructure projects to reduce stormwater runoff. Projects that implement a state-approved watershed-based plan are preferred, meaning communities in the Little Calumet River, Cal-Sag Channel, Poplar Creek and Des Plaines River watersheds are eligible. Approximately $2 million will be awarded to 5-8 applicants.
