Hey JW,

May Toy may be unable to make the Tuesday Aug. 4 meeting at 6 pm if she is
doing the TreeKeeper training so maybe we can offer an earlier time? May,
does something work better for you? May is our prime person on the whole
water survey and advocacy, so we want her in on the discussion.

Our alternate date of Wednesday, Aug. 5 is good for May.

So, JW I hope notice of a Zoom meeting gets out tomorrow to give folks a
chance to schedule it.

The agenda will be motion on proposal, second on motion, brief discussion
as this has already made the rounds of chairs, and final vote to make it
official. However there may be a need to review as Amy pointed out, so May
will you please be prepared to answer two questions: How did this water
access issue arise? Why should CCGA advocate separately from/in addition to
AUA and NS?

Here's the motion:

*"In order to respond to the needs and requirements of community gardens
which are non-commercial and neighborhood **residents’ **growing
organizations, as pertains to the city water hydrant policy on the hydrant
cap assembly, back flow preventer, and installation and inspection of **hydrant
keys**, CCGA supports a survey of gardens affected by this new policy and
advocates for policy changes and resources for those gardens to be
conducted in a cooperative manner."*

CCGA Communications also received a request from the State of Illinois to
provide technical assistance to selected faith based organizations which
will receive COVID funds to create a new garden or expand an existing
one. Community
gardens may benefit from technical assistance from CCGA. We can provide
technical assistance in a range of areas including composting, plant
distributions, gardening resources, and accessing additional resources for
soil, tools, materials for raised beds or tool sheds. Materials provided
would be *Basic Steps to Starting a Community Garden, pdf of How to Collect
a soil Sample, pdf of COVID 19 & Community Gardening Gardening Guide.*

A Scope of Work was sent to Communications. Please attach it to the call
for a Zoom meeting.

Draft of motion to be worded and voted on

*"Community gardeners act as neighborhood stewards of green space in our
city. These shared spaces provide social networks or norms that establish
coordinated efforts of all members of a community to support and engage in
food gardening and environmental awareness; therefore, CCGA is willing to
work with the state of Ill. Department of Human Services on this
pilot project. *
