Your Commissioner at Work
at the MWRD
MWRD Gets a Landscaping Assist from Hungry Goats
The MWRD is the second largest landowner in Cook Cook and manages many different properties that are mostly adjacent to the Chicago river system and canals. Keeping up with landscaping can be difficult. Especially if you consider the District is working to maintain native prairies and land adjacent to water reservoirs while controlling for invasive species. Last year the District employed 50 goats from a Wisconsin company to help keep vegetation in check at our Lemont Water Reclamation Plant (https://mwrd.org/sites/default/files/documents/Fact_Sheet_Lemont.pdf) . The goats got a free meal while MWRD was able to control vegetative growth at a reduced cost. They certainly are an amusing sight!
Social Impact Summit and Panel at Booth School of Business

Commissioner Du Buclet participated on a panel at the Social Impact Summit: Business and the Climate Crisis, an event geared towards business students at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. The panel discussed how individuals can use their influence within their company and/or organization to promote change in their communities. As an alum of the school the Commissioner was happy to be back at Booth and to discuss about a subject she is so passionate about, taking action to address climate change.
