GPC will close starting tomorrow, Tuesday, March 17.  ‌ To all friends of the Garfield Park Conservatory, For the safety and well-being of all visitors and staff, the Garfield Park Conservatory building and campus will be closed starting tomorrow, Tuesday, March 17, 2020. As the situation continues to unfold we will share updates with you, on our website , on the Chicago Park District website and on our social media platforms on when we will re-open our doors and resume programming and events. For the time being, the plant collection will be maintained daily by Chicago Park District horticulture staff. During the temporary closure, we will share nature education content to continue our mission to change lives through the power of nature. We know that connecting to nature offers physical and psychological benefits that are especially valuable at this time. For now, please check out these free resources for all ages and share with friends and family. DIGITAL TOURS Did you know we have free digital tours? This is a great way to learn about plants in our collection from anywhere. WINTER WONDERLAND BOOKLET Created for our Winter Wonderland Workshop in December 2019 this booklet has activities for families to do at home. The first five activities in the book are designed to get you outside in the winter, while the last five activities are good for indoor nature play when going outside may not be feasible. THEMED RESOURCES Designed for teachers, these can be used and enjoyed by families as well! ACTIVITIES AND LESSON PLANS Perfect for at home, these resources were developed to blend horticulture, art, history, and even social media with nature education! We hope you are finding time to breathe and connect to nature however possible. Please stay tuned for more updates and additional content in the coming weeks.
