Hello All,
Hope everyone is staying bundled up and warm with all this howling wind and
snow ! I'm ready for Spring !!!!

Please add this to the agenda for tomorrow's meeting:

Joining forces with Youth Programming Division at Chicago Police
Department.
Background:
The head of Youth Programming at CPD is looking for new ideas to expand
the activities offered in programs for youth all over the city. At present
there is the Youth Explorers Program that targets youth between the ages of
10-18 with a variety of activities targeted toward Community Engagement and
Volunteering and also includes the Jr. Police Academy. Maxwell Garden has
successfully partnered with the 012 and 010 Districts Explorers in the past
and they are excited about the upcoming post-Covid season (all activities
were suspended last year) and are planning to engage with us as soon as
the weather breaks. They will join us regularly throughout the season to
learn about planting and tending veggies and flowers, about watering best
practices and to help with general garden tasks and maintenance. This is a
wonderful opportunity to get youth engaged in their neighborhoods for
socially distanced learning and mentoring in a safe outdoor greenspace. It
is also a great opportunity for gardens with a heavy senior population to
get some assistance with much of the heavy-lifting that is part of
gardening. CCGA has the ability to connect the Police Districts to the
Gardens.

See you tomorrow !
