 For immediate release MWRD to celebrate African American History Month with 2nd annual flag raising ceremony   The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (MWRD) will celebrate African American History Month throughout February to honor the achievements of African Americans.   President Kari K. Steele, Vice President Barbara McGowan and the Board of Commissioners will kick off the month by raising the African American Flag for the second consecutive year on Monday, Feb. 1 at 10 a.m.  During the ceremony, community leaders and elected officials are invited to drive by the MWRD’s main office building from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. to show their support. We will be distributing a limited supply of African American calendars for the year 2021 and MWRD calendars. No parking will be available on Erie Street, and the MWRD office building is closed due to the pandemic.   “We have again dedicated the entire month to recognizing and applauding the contributions of African Americans,” said Vice President McGowan. “This is the second annual raising of the African American Flag to support the black community and highlight our commitment to diversity.”   Please click on the link for a special message from Vice President McGowan. https://youtu.be/8Dk425Ek65I.
