JULY 2021 HAPPENINGS Still Life in Real Life: Charles Ethan Porter $5 for Adults; Free for kids, Garfield Park Neighbors & Members July 28 - October 17, 2021 (or until weather permits) We're so happy to invite you to the 2021 Artist’s Garden exhibit Still Life in Real Life: Charles Ethan Porter. The garden will be filled with fruits and flowers that can be found in the still life paintings of African American artist Charles Ethan Porter; including strawberries, carnations, violets, sunflowers and much more. The living wall will be an homage to Porter’s painting entitled Autumn Landscape with grasses and flowers offering different textures and colors that inhabit the landscape in this painting. Through August 20, every Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10-11am and 11:30-1:30pm, learn about the garden from an Urban Roots docent! The teen docents will be situated around the space to share about Charles Ethan Porter, the plants, and more. This free drop-in time is also a great way to get flyers about seasonal issues that may impact your growing space. In nice weather, they will be located outside in the Urban Demonstration Garden. In inclement weather, they can be found in the Show House. To access the table, you will need to book a reservation to the Conservatory. Ask A Master Gardener In Person! Join us at 115 S Pulaski Rd. (Madison and Pulaski), where the Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance will also be handing out free nature play kits! Join us on The Hatchery plaza and shop locally grown food including produce donated by the Conservatory. So far this year, we have donated 250 lbs of produce to community organizations. Austin Garden Collective Austin Garden Collective represents and supports the 25+ Community Gardens of Austin through connecting, resourcing, and supporting this garden network. They host Volunteer Saturdays throughout the planting, growing, and harvesting season, as well as Saturday Seminars the first Saturday of each summer month.
