You may already know that MWRD:



- is a $1.2 billion agency



- has 2,000 employees



- is over 132 years old (established in 1889)



- operates the world’s largest water reclamation plant



- operates six other plants and 23 pumping stations





MWRD is an award-winning, special purpose government agency responsible for wastewater treatment and stormwater management. Our mission is to protect the health and safety of the public, the quality of the water supply source (Lake Michigan), improve and protect the quality of water in watercourses, protect businesses and homes from flood damages, and manage water as a vital resource. we also have compost and trees that we give away for free.
