In this conversation we will explore the benefits of nature and creativity and how they are deeply related. Including sustainable crafts and a planting activity! Earth Day Kits & All Nature Activities Nature education for young children and families is made possible in part by a grant from the PNC foundation. SCHOOL PROGRAMS Sustainable Spring Experience $50 or Free for CPS Title 1 Schools Join a new virtual field trip celebrating spring and sustainability! We’ll talk about gardening in any size space. Including seed-starting and planting demos using upcycled materials students likely have at home. We’ll show sustainability in action at GPC and look for signs of spring on site! Great for groups of 50 students or fewer, and work for remote, hybrid, or in-person classrooms. Choose ‘Sustainable Spring Experience’ when registering. JOB ANNOUNCEMENT: URBAN ROOTS PART TIME SUMMER ASSISTANT Now Accepting Applications We are seeking a part time summer teaching assistant for the Urban Roots program. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis through May 5th. We are looking for someone with teaching experience and an interest in plants, gardening, and/or working with teens. COMMUNITY CORNER Garfield Park Families Survey We have embarked on a journey through Of/By/For All to ensure our organization and the programs we offer are inclusive, relevant and equitable, specifically for Garfield Park families. We hope to connect and learn from Black or African American families with young children who live in Garfield Park about what fulfilling family programs they want to see and be part of in their community. Take The Survey West Side Group Wants To Turn Vacant Lots Into Community Gardens W/Free Fitness Programs Marcelino Riley, who has competed on "American Ninja Warrior," is raising money to build wellness sanctuaries so residents can grow their own food and work out for free. Pull Up The City has launched a GoFundMe to help them overhaul vacant lots in East Garfield Park, Lawndale and West Humboldt Park.
