Greetings from Edgewater,

I am participating in the Chicago Conservation Corps on a project to raise
consumer awareness regarding waste in our food system. The Edgewater
Environmental Coalition recommended I contact your association, and I'm
hoping that I can share this project with you and perhaps find more
participants.

The deliverable of this project is to give farms and nurseries food grade
plastic containers (like yogurt containers) for use as seedling pots
instead of newly manufactured pots “designed” for plants (see the attached
image for an example). We give the pots for free. The impact of each reused
plastic pot is:

· One pot a local grower need not purchase.

· One piece of plastic diverted from immediately entering a landfill.

· An opportunity to show consumers the importance and ease of reuse.

· An opportunity to educate.

This year, we have provided pots to Chicago Lights Urban Farm for the
upcoming summer sale, and we are hoping to find more participants. Do you
know any organizations interested in free pots for seedlings?

Let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks,

Jonathan
