They had been preparing for weeks with local excursions near Chicago, classroom learning, and obtaining new gear. On the day of their arrival to Bozeman, Montana, they were met with the unprecedented & historic flooding of Yellowstone National Park which caused the entire park to close for the first time in 34 years. With quick action from Yellowstone Forever, who hosted the trip, and our leadership team, they were able to quickly build a new itinerary for the students for an unforgettable experience. Students took hikes in the mountains, explored the Louis & Clark Caverns, viewed watersheds at Headwaters State Park, experienced a soak at Bozeman Hot Springs, learned about Yellowstone wildlife and visited Yellowstone Gateway Museum, Livingston Depot Museum, and more! This is a group of amazing teens who have so much knowledge within them. We are proud of how they adjusted on the journey, the incredible team building that took place, and that they stepped outside their comfort zones to head across the country for this journey. And we are proud of our staff who led them on this journey, keeping them safe and engaged with an experience they will always remember.
