Hi Communications Team,
Here is some follow-up from items discussed at the November CCGA
coordinating meeting.
ITEM 1 - Site Post
I made a site post about the December Holiday event. I also noted the
incorrect address on the flyer on the post. Now I see that Mamie has sent a
corrected flyer so I will update that later today.
ITEM 2 - Calendar Items
In anticipation of a newsletter going out I added some events to the site
calendar and here is some potential copy for the newsletter, links are on
the site:
December 3, 2022 - 9:30am
CCGA Resources Holiday Plant Sale, Wreath Demo & Container Workshop
The Hatchery
Thursday, January 12 & 19; 6pm-8:30pm
2 Part Virtual Beginning Beekeeping Class
Garfield Park Conservatory
January 17, 2023 - 6pm
January CCGA Coordinating Meeting (Virtual)
ITEM 3 - Email Notice or Include in Newsletter if Going Out Soon
At our Tuesday meeting we discussed the potential 2023 conference. This was
also discussed at the October coordinating meeting. Lorraine also sent a
follow-up email on October 20. I said in the meeting Tuesday that it didn’t
look like we would have a conference because there were so few people on
the call. Angela suggested sending an email to the main mail list to
solicit any interest and volunteers to serve on such a body. I indicated I
could crank out that email via MailChimp to the main list and that I would
circulate some copy for review before sending anything.
However, read Lorraine’s 10/20 email as she lays out all the main
questions, see below:
So, we need to hear from everyone: Do we want to return to an in person
conference? Is it less expensive and more sustainable to reach people with
a virtual conference? Do we want a hybrid? Let's take a few comments to
inform our agenda for the December meeting.
After reading that I might suggest we offer a poll to the leadership cadre
as to format, for example:
-
No Conf This Year
-
Virtual Conf
-
In-Person Conference
-
Workshops throughout the year instead of one main event
-
Something else
What do you all think about this? Please advise. I can work-up some copy
for a blurb or separate email if necessary.
ITEM 4 - Giving Tuesday Campaign
Angela suggested we conduct a Giving Tuesday campaign. I assume we use
GoFundMe?
A suggestion was made to feature the Legacy Gardener video project as a
focus and potential hook. All we need is some catchy copy to get us
started. I offered to draft some.
I don’t think this item is worth holding up the newsletter for, we would
send a separate email blast about this anyway in support of Giving Tuesday.
ITEM 5 - Site Menu Cleanup
On our meeting Tuesday night we noticed some rather sloppy menu tree items
which I have cleaned up. For example, all conference data/pages are easy to
find now under the Events item.
Some of this menu was cleaned-up too:
That is it for now - let me know if you have any questions.
