August Edition

I hope that you and your family have been enjoying this summer and taking advantage of the beauty that Illinois has to offer. Whether you enjoyed a jaunt to the lakefront, our world-class downtown or took a trip to somewhere away from the urban hustle and bustle. Whatever you got up to, I sincerely hope you had a good time.
As we transition from summer to fall, and colder weather, let's be sure to set up the young people in out lives for success by taking some time out of your day to volunteer or by giving to a back-to-school supply drive. Please check out my latest newsletter for more information on volunteer opportunities and giveaways in our community.
Like always, I am committed to serving you and your family. If you have any questions or in need of assistance please reach out to my office at either [rep5information at gmail.com](mailto:rep5information at gmail.com) or 773-924-4614.

Representative DuBuclet in the Community
-----------------------------------------
94th Annual Bud Biliken Parade
-------------------------------
I was happy to participate in the 94th Annual Bud Parade as it marched through the 5th district.
This is one of my favorite days of the year. It is great to see so many families and friends out celebrating and supporting our youth as they head back to the classroom.
I wish all of the students of the 5th district a successful school year ahead!!
State Senator Mattie Hunter's 19th Annual Community Health and Fitness Fair
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
It was an honor to partner with State Senator Mattie Hunter on her 19th annual health & fitness fair! We had over 25 community partners attend and provide resources for community members to access. Healthy communities are important in order for us all to prosper!!
Chinese American Service League
---------------------------------
Thank you to the Chinese American Service League for giving me the opportunity to tour your amazing center and to witness the great work that you are doing for all of the communities in Chicago. I[ had a great opportunity to discuss the wide range of offerings that CASL provides and see firsthand the services that are provided. ](https://aa1n4.r.a.d.sendibm1.com/mk/cl/f/sh/SMK1E8tHeFuBlzqgiycYjkFrLpq9/QSJKzTh4V9JW)
Illinois Insititute of Technology
-----------------------------------
Thank you to the Illinois Insititute of Technology for hosting me. As a member of the House Higher Education Appropriations committee, it is important to hear firsthand directly from higher education leaders across our state. IIT is world renowned institution that is located in the fifth district. They are working on increasing the STEM education pipeline from high school to college and beyond.

National Monument

=================
-----------------
On July 25th, what would have been Emmett Till’s 82nd birthday, President Biden signed a proclamation establishing the Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley National Monument to preserve Emmett’s story and ensure the cruel legacy of racism in the United States is not forgotten.
I was pleased to join U.S. Secretary of the Interior Deb Halaand and White House Chair of Environmental Quality Brenda Mallory at Roberts Temple Church of Christ which held the funeral services of Emmett Till, for the unveiling of the Emmett Till and Mamie Till-Mobley National Monument site.
Roberts Temple Church of Christ is located in the fifth district.
