Hi Mamie! Yes, for sure - Julie wrote that whole document for BUGS which is already on the CCGA website I think. It would be great to also work in collaboration with folks from other cities just to get some new ideas.

>>
>> If you don't mind me calling this a convening of a Council of Wisdom, but I have a question or two, and a connection you might be interested in.
>>
>> My questions are this:
>>
>> First, the upcoming edition of ACGA's Community Gardening will feature an article about ACGA's famous "10 steps to starting a community garden." (Community Gardening is now the name of ACGA's magazine, formerly The Community Greening Review, and before that (with Sally McCabe as editor for much of its existence) The Journal of Community Gardening.)
>>
>> The steps are here, thanks to Dr. Lucy Bradley, now at NC State CES:
>>
>> https://forsyth.ces.ncsu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/10-Steps-to-Starting-a-Community-Garden.pdf?fwd=no <https://forsyth.ces.ncsu.edu/wp-content/uploads/2021/09/10-Steps-to-Starting-a-Community-Garden.pdf?fwd=no>
>>
>> Rather than rehash them, the original 10 are still pretty darn good (see question 2), so the story will propose 10 steps to SUSTAINING a community garden. Two questions about that:
>>
>> Any key things jump into your mind about how to do that?
>>
>> And would you mind looking over the draft a little later this week? It won't be super-long, maybe 600-800 words. That way, you can add (and you'll be credited!) your thoughts and suggestions.
>>
>> Thanks in advance.
>>
>> Second question: Does anyone know where our original 10 steps originated? Was there a principle writer, or did ACGA's board come up with it, or a little of both?
>>
>> Now, finally, for those of you interested, Linda Appel Lipsius, ED of DUG, has created a national leadership forum to discuss community gardening and related issues, using technological tools that weren't around when those first 10 steps were created. If you are interested and have time, please contact Linda, who is on this email. The meetings I've attended are truly inspiring. ACGA's current board members are taking part, so you can "meet" some of them there, too.
>>
>> Best, and thanks (and I'm impressed with all you guys have accomplished, on behalf of community gardens, and simply in your lives. You are amazing and inspiring, all of you!)
