Hello Dawn,

I'm very interested in the position with Voice of the City this summer.
Your organization is very aligned with my values, background in the arts,
landscape design and architecture and what I have been doing since 2015 -
urban farming.

Please refer to my attached resume. You will notice it includes various
references as well.

As a business owner of Relish (an Urban Farm located in East Garfield Park
at Madison and Francisco), I have flexibility. Tuesday through Friday I
can make myself available to Voice of the City from 8am to 8pm June through
August. The same is true for my interview schedule. My preferred rate
range is $24 - $28/hour.

Given my education with a degree in Leadership for Sustainability
Education, knowledge of and relationships in Chicago (specifically in Logan
Square) and experience, I believe I could be an asset to your organization.
I chose my Master's Program at Portland State University because of its
unique commitment to honoring the land we work on and the people that were
displaced before us, spiritual grounding, creativity, self-care, and
supporting individualized identities.

I feel I am at my best when I am working with and supporting communities,
specifically youth or young adults. It has been empowering as a woman to
co-found my own business focused on food justice - I would encourage all
peoples to follow in my path. At the same time, the human connection
should be sustained whilst we foster the land, environment, arts and
culture.

This past year my business has partnered with organizations such as Impact
Culinary, The Boys and Girls Club of Chicago, Garfield Park Community
Council, NeighborSpace, The Hatchery, Experimental Station, Chicago Urban
Farm Solutions, Smooth and Social Roots, Windy City Harvest, among others.
This weekend Relish is a primary sponsor of Breakthrough's annual Walk for
Hunger event and will be leading a seed-starting education event for youth
and adults alike.

Please let me know if you have further questions for me. I hope to hear
from you soon.

Most kindly,
Mandy Penksa
