Seed Paper Piñata Project
<https://mortonarb.org/explore/activities/adult-programs/seed-paper-pinata-project/>
Three Saturdays, October 12 through 26, 2024, 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Led by Marimacha Monarca Press, this workshop series centers queerness and
migration, grief and relief, death and rebirth while engaging the outdoors
as a community art studio. In this three-part art making series
participants will use papermaking, piñata making, and storytelling to
connect their collective histories to the natural environment to explore
vulnerability and resiliency. At the end of this program, participants will
be able to:

   - Understand rasquachismo
   - Identify importance of native seeds for pollinators
   - Identify papier-mȃché techniques and their importance to Latine culture
   - Make seed paper inspired by guerrilla gardening and rasquachismo
   - Work collaboratively on collective art projects.

Join us in metamorphosis by spawning, transforming, and pollinating with a
huge monarch-inspired piñata made with seed paper. This program meets in
person at the Arboretum.
