Hi CCGA,
My name is Salma, I'm a researcher at the University of Illinois at
Chicago, and I’m reaching out on behalf of a research group studying soil
quality and lead contamination issues here in Chicago. We’re particularly
focused on understanding how these factors may be impacting community and
personal gardens, especially in areas where soil fertility and productivity
might be declining due to potential contamination.
We’d love to connect with Urban Alliance, as we believe your network may
include local gardeners, urban farmers, or community garden leaders with
valuable insights on this topic. Our goal is to gather input from community
members to help us develop resources and potential solutions that could
support local growers and contribute positively to Chicago’s urban
agriculture scene.
If you know of any gardeners who are concerned about soil quality and would
be open to discussing their experiences, we’d be grateful for an
introduction or any direction you could provide. We’d be happy to provide
updates on our findings or collaborate in ways that support your work in
the community.
Thank you for considering this, and please let us know if you have any
questions!
Best regards,
Salma
