Thank you for your interest in Chicago community gardens. CCGA acts as a conduit to help gardeners find gardens to volunteer at and to help place one-time volunteers at sites for single big workdays (usually at the start or end of the season), and we can also help people find ongoing volunteer opportunities or to get a plot at an allotment garden.
Please note, however, that CCGA works in partnership with the local community groups that are the primary leaders and decision-makers at each site. While we will do our best to make connections, it is ultimately up to each garden group whether they want to take on new gardeners.
Please fill out the form below, and we will do our best to help you find a fruitful match with a garden. If you’d like to take matters into your own hands, we encourage you to take a look at the Chicago Urban Agriculture Mapping Project, and search near you. Take a walk around to the gardens that interest you on a weekend morning during the season, and you’ll probably see some gardeners there or, if not, there will likely be signage that can inform you how to reach the garden leaders directly.
