DESCRIPTION:Arturo Velasquez Institute Greenhouse\nRosario Maldonado\, Apprenticeship & Corps Sales Coordinator\n$39\nIn this workshop\, we’ll cover seed starting dates for edibles\, container format options\, organic soil mixes\, how to create ideal conditions and trouble shoot. You will learn different techniques for starting your own vegetable transplants as well as how to use our favorite\, the soil-block maker\, a sustainable method for starting seeds. You will leave this workshop with 12 soil blocks you make of a green of your choice – chard\, collards or kale. Bring a shoe box or tray to carry your starts home in!

SUMMARY:Edible Landscape Redesign Project at The Plant
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the volunteer kickoff meeting for creating an Edible Landscape garden at The Plant. This will be a demonstration garden including signage and more information on the web.  This project will promote converting a front lawn\, any area\, to an edible landscape.  REGISTER HERE \nThe is part of the Chicago Demonstration Gardens project.  This is a collaborative effort by groups in Back of the Yards and Woodlawn to create various types of demonstration gardens.  Types of gardens will include high-impact\, low-maintenance flowerbeds\, native plant species\, pollinator habitats and edible landscapes.  We need experienced gardeners to help with consulting on these project.  Even if you are not nearby these locations\, we would welcome your assistance to select appropriate plants\, etc.  For more information or to volunteer\, please contact Bill Morrisett\, morrisett@midwestcyber.com.
