[Advocacy-outreach] [Communications] We have a Conference Theme and an RFP

Thank you for the opportunity to explain this. Chicago Community Gardens:
Our Challenge to Build and Thrive.  There was discussion at the meeting
around the wording to point out that CCGA is not offering to build beds or
gardens. It does not say that, but we as people in community gardens want
to grow by building more beds, yes, by building more gardens, and expanding
existing ones. We want to thrive by growing community. The words hold power
and hope as concepts in this statement.

Any proposal about clean soil helps our seedlings, our gardens, and all of
us thrive.  Building compost bins and understanding what soil amendments
are and when and how to use them helps our gardens thrive. Anything that
removes carbon, say planting trees, or practices that mitigate against
climate worsening in the midwest helps community gardens thrive.

This is a small part of what may be a bigger picture for the year ahead in
gardening.

I invite everyone to expand on this conversation at our January meeting.
