Hi, Lorraine,
I've attached an updated news release for Chicago Excellence in
Gardening Awards. It indicates that we're in the judging phase for 2019
right now. While it doesn't give the exact number of wards that were
represented by entries, I can tell you that the number is 42, up from 33
last year. We had many more entries than in 2018, which means more
judges and more judging. We're diving into that this week and we've set
a mid-August deadline for getting it done.
It's important to note that we became a 501(c)(3) Illinois
not-for-profit organization this year, which means that we're hunting
down groups and businesses who would like to support our activities.
We're not going to complain if you make that information public.
It looks as though the awards ceremony will be held at Austin Town
Hall on October 12. However, Julie Samuels is still working with the
City to get final approval, so we can't mention that facility by name
yet. The news release states simply that the ceremony will be held "at a
Chicago Park District facility."
Let us know if you need more information.
     Thanks for your help.

Mike
