New Fun Fall Classes at the Conservatory Sign Up for a Virtual Course NATURE JOURNALING: VIRTUAL CLASS, SENIOR SERIES The Garfield Park Conservatory has teamed up with artist Abena Motaboli to offer an 8-week online nature journaling course with older adults, age 55+, that takes place in the comfort of your own homes! This class will focus on creative writing with drawing and other multi-disciplinary arts as a secondary practice. Topics and themes are nature based and include studying native plants and their uses, exploring materials found in nature and every day life to create art, reflecting on one’s relationship with nature, the self and more! When: Mondays from 10am - 12pm on September 28, October 5, 12, 19, 26, November 2, 9 & 16 Culminating event date TBD by class participants. Class Price: $240 General Public $192 Volunteers/Members Scholarships are available. Please fill out this form if interested in a scholarship. REGISTER FOR NATURE JOURNALING BOTANICAL DRAWING: VIRTUAL COURSE We have teamed up with artist Katia Pérez Fuentes to offer a 6-week online drawing course! Perez will lead us through a series of practices using line, texture, and patterns found in nature with inspiration from the plant life at the Conservatory. This class is for adults 18+. When: Tuesdays from 11am - 1pm on September 15, 22, 29 & October 6, 13, 20 Class Price: $180 General Public $144 Members/Volunteers. Materials approx. $40. Scholarships are available. REGISTER FOR BOTANICAL DRAWING INTRO TO WINTER GROWING SUCCULENTS: CARE & PROPOGATION Join Emilia Arellano, GPCA’s Greenhouse Coordinator, for a virtual class on easy care succulents that grow actively in the winter! You will learn how to care for these winter growers throughout the year and how to expand your collection via three propagation techniques–leaf cuttings, stem cuttings and offsets.
