Hello,
I'm contacting you on behalf of the Global Seed Library Census and hope that you can share the information about the census within your networks. The information is both below my signature and attached. I am a community gardener at Hello Howard Community Garden and part of the Rogers Park Seed Library as well as a volunteer for the Global Seed Library Census.
Thank you for your consideration,
Tammy Besser
Global Seed Library Census 2024
SEED THE MAP! The Seed Library Network calls for your participation in our newly launched Global Seed Library Census.
The Global Seed Library Census will be used to create a comprehensive, up-to-date map highlighting seed libraries around the world. Since 2011, the Seed Library Network has counted 2600 seed libraries in 43 countries, but our list is outdated and we know there are many more.
Seed libraries, like book libraries for seeds, serve as free, accessible, community seed collections from which people are encouraged to borrow, grow, save and return their local seed. Seed libraries promote seed literacy, food sovereignty, sustainability, culture, resilience and biodiversity, making them a vital resource in thousands of communities.
We're calling upon seed librarians, seed supporters, and seedy communities worldwide to complete the census today and forward it to any seed library you know.
Complete the census survey at http://bit.ly/seedcensus . For more information visit our website at SeedLibraries.net . We request completed surveys by March 31st, 2024.
About the Seed Library Network:
Established in 2011, the Seed Library Network is a volunteer-driven organization passionately devoted to nurturing local seed initiatives. Our mission is to cultivate community seed libraries and seed sovereignty. We envision a robust seed library in every community that is accessible to all and that honors the wisdom of the seeds and their keepers. We also highlight exceptional
projects initiated by seed libraries and foster collective learning and inspiration through our annual summit.
