Good morning,

The website the Department of Water Management (DWM) operates as the
application for the Hydrant Use Permit (HUP)
<https://hup.betterstrongersaferchicago.org/#/comGardenInfo> is back up and
running. The website had been down between May 5th and at least May 31.
This meant:

   - If you had not submitted an application, you could not submit one.
   - If you had submitted one but did not complete an application, you
   could not move forward.
   - The city could not see any existing materials submitted by applicants.

With the website back up and running, the DWM is likely facing a backlog of
applications and additional materials. If you need assistance or an update
on your application, please email Tom Lally
(Thomas.Lally at cityofchicago.org) and Elizabeth Weber
(Elizabeth.Weber at cityofchicago.org). You are welcome to tag me on the
correspondence.

AUA and Neighborspace meet with the DWM on Thursdays during the HUP season
(April-October). If you have any questions or concerns you would like us to
relay directly, we would be happy to.

For more information on the process of applying for an HUP or having a
custodian cap removed, please see the resources on our website
<https://www.auachicago.org/water-access-for-chicago-growers>.
