Connect with the City of Chicago Office of Inspector General across Chicago This Summer.
Meet OIG at Community Events, Farmers Markets, and More.

This summer, the City of Chicago Office of Inspector General (OIG) is stepping out of the office and into neighborhoods across the City. From Memorial Day to Labor Day, OIG staff volunteers will attend more than 15 public events across the City to meet Chicagoans where they are, to listen to community concerns, talk about our work, and initiate intakes for complaints or suggestions to make City government better.

Key Details

Who:

OIG's community engagement team and volunteers from across the office

What:

Will participate in community, chamber of commerce, and city-hosted events to hear first-hand about Chicagoans' experiences interacting with City government and services.

When and Where:

Click here to view OIG's 2025 summer outreach calendar.<https://igchicago.org/2025-summer-outreach-calendar/> (Not seeing your Ward or Community Area on the list? Please reach out and let's plan something together!<mailto:communications at igchicago.org?subject=Community%20Engagement%20with%20OIG>)

Why:

OIG's work is only as effective as we are in communicating with the public about it. Outreach helps educate Chicagoans about our role, provides a direct channel for raising concerns, and invites people to take part in the process of government accountability and reform.

New this Year:

OIG will be at multiple Mobile City Halls organized by the Chicago City Clerk's office. Additionally, OIG will be present in multiple Police Districts during National Night Out, an event focusing on police-community partnerships. OIG's summer outreach calendar<https://igchicago.org/2025-summer-outreach-calendar/> will be updated regularly with new events and details.

About OIG:

The mission of the independent and non-partisan City of Chicago Office of Inspector General (OIG) is to promote economy, effectiveness, efficiency, and integrity by identifying corruption, waste, and mismanagement in City government. OIG is a watchdog for the taxpayers of the City and has jurisdiction to conduct inquiries into most aspects of City government. If you see misconduct, mismanagement, ineffectiveness, or inefficiency, we need to hear from you. For more information, visit our website at igchicago.org<https://igchicago.org/>.

Please stop by any of our currently scheduled events<https://igchicago.org/2025-summer-outreach-calendar/>, or hit reply to invite OIG to your community.
