Dear Community Affairs Coordinator,

On behalf of the Rabb-Venable Excellence in Ophthalmology Program, I respectfully request your support in promoting a special milestone in Chicago’s medical and civic legacy. We are celebrating the 25th Anniversary of the Rabb-Venable Program with a Black-Tie Gala on Friday, July 18, 2025, at the historic Chicago Athletic Association Hotel.

We would be honored if this event could be included in your Community Calendar or Upcoming Events segment.

The Rabb-Venable Program, sponsored by the National Medical Association, supports the next generation of underrepresented medical students, residents, and fellows pursuing careers in ophthalmology. Over the past 25 years, the program has mentored hundreds of future physicians and scientists, providing research training, leadership development, and a national platform for scholarly exchange.

This year’s celebration is especially meaningful as we honor the enduring legacy of Dr. Maurice Rabb, Jr., a longtime Chicago resident and pioneer in both ophthalmology and public health. Dr. Rabb served on the faculty at the University of Illinois at Chicago, helped lead the first sickle cell center in the Midwest, and was deeply committed to medical education and health equity.
