Dear Neighbors and Friends,

This July marks not only our nation's birthday but also a time to celebrate the rich diversity and vibrant culture that makes our community so special. It has been a particularly meaningful few weeks as we've honored important moments in our shared history while continuing our work both in Springfield and here at home. From commemorating Juneteenth and Pride Month, to engaging with local cultural institutions that preserve and celebrate our heritage, these experiences remind me of the strength we find in our collective story.

I was honored to join the Speaker of the House's annual Juneteenth Celebration alongside Governor Pritzker and my colleagues in the General Assembly. This celebration serves as an important reminder that our work toward a more equitable society continues, and that we must remain diligent in protecting the rights and dignity of all our residents.

The summer season offers us unique opportunities to come together as a community. Whether it's attending local festivals, supporting small businesses, participating in community service projects, or simply enjoying time with family and friends in our neighborhood parks, these moments strengthen the bonds that make our district resilient and vibrant. I encourage everyone to take advantage of the many activities and resources available throughout our community during these warm months

Join  State Senator Mattie Hunter, State Rep. Sonya Harper, and I on June 28 at 10:00 AM at Insight Hospital to provide updates from the 104th Illinois General Assembly and a full state budget debrief. Come hear about what we've been working on in Springfield and share your questions and concerns

**NASCAR Chicago Street Race Traffic Advisory - July 5-6**

The NASCAR Chicago Street Race returns to Grant Park July 5-6! Thanks to improved planning, this year's setup has been reduced to just 25 days (down from 43 days in 2023) with street closures limited to 18 days starting June 19th.

Key impacts include closures around Grant Park, Michigan Avenue, Columbus Drive, and portions of Lake Shore Drive. All businesses and residences will remain accessible, and more than half of Grant Park will stay open to the public during the event.

Free festival activities will be available at Butler Field. Public transit strongly encouraged - CTA and Metra adding extra service. To stay informed: Download the Chicago OEMC app or visit nascarchicago.com/localinfo/
