Windy City Harvest is accepting applications for summer internship with our
Youth Farm program! This is a hands-on opportunity to gain experience in
urban agriculture, food systems, and community-based work with a leading
program at the Chicago Botanic Garden's urban agriculture farms in North
Lawndale and Washington Park.

*Internship Highlights*

   - *Hands-On Urban Agriculture Experience*: Interns work alongside high
   school students on sustainable farms in Chicago's North Lawndale and
   Washington Park communities, engaging in activities like planting, weeding,
   harvesting, and general farm maintenance.
   - *Youth Mentorship and Leadership*: Interns assist in training 16 to 19
   high school students in organic farming techniques, facilitate
   team-building exercises, and lead weekly hands-on lessons for small crews,
   fostering leadership and communication skills.
   - *Community Engagement*: The role includes acting as a resource for
   program information for project partners, community members, and Chicago
   Botanic Garden staff, as well as assisting with tours and supporting
   additional program and operational needs.

*Ideal Candidate Profile*

   - *Experience with Youth*: Candidates should have experience working
   with youth; a background in outdoor or experiential education is a plus.
   - *Adaptability and Physical Stamina*: The role requires flexibility to
   respond to shifting schedules and program needs and the ability to perform
   physical labor in all weather conditions, including rain and extreme heat.
   - *Positive Attitude and Team Player*: A positive, solutions-oriented
   attitude and a genuine interest in the intersection of youth development
   and urban agriculture within a fast-paced and collaborative environment are
   essential.
