Elite Growers’ Big Donation Boosts Summer Perennial Distribution
Elite Growers, the well-known Midwestern plant experts, provided a bounty of diverse perennials for the July 17 CCGA Summer Perennial Distribution. Over 2700 perennials came off their two trucks; CCGA volunteers then sorted and made groups of a wide variety of perennials to distribute to community gardeners. Thanks to all of the community gardeners who came to the event–and extra thanks to those of you who picked up wheelbarrows and helped us with the final stages of sorting!
Over seventy community gardens participated in this event, and we distributed every single plant. A special thank you to Pat Jackson and Robert Hart, who manage the beautiful Sherwood Peace Garden where we held the event, and who were the coordinators of this Distribution. And another special thank you to Mamie Gray, who handled the whole registration process beautifully.
Because so many of those who attended asked about Sherwood Peace, Pat and Robert have agreed to prepare a description and photos that we will post in this space within the next week. We will also post a list of the names of all the perennials from Elite Growers, in hopes that this will help you with identification.
Thanks again to all the volunteers and all who showed up on a hot humid day to get some very nice plants!
Robert has posted more photos here.
The Elm Park Park Advisory Council also wanted to share these photos with you of where some of the plants ended up!
