KAM Isaiah Israel Farm & Food Forest School
2016 Summer Session
Interested in learning about urban ag? How to grow food? How to design and install a food forest? Then please join us for any or all of eight free workshops this July and August at KAM Isaiah Israel’s award winning micro-farm and food forest in Hyde Park.
Hosted by KAM Isaiah Israel’s nationally recognized Food Justice and Sustainability program, this dynamic, hands on summer program is an intergenerational learning experience open to teens and adults and is free of charge. Beginning and experienced growers are welcome to attend any or all of the eight topic-focused sessions, which are designed to complement each other as stand alone classes or be taken as a full course (detailed schedule coming soon). Hands-on learning takes place at KAM Isaiah Israel’s award winning urban micro-farm and food forest, 1100 East Hyde Park Boulevard, where each of the course’s eight Sundays begin and end.
The focus is on urban farming and sustainable land use and is intended to provide participants with powerful tools for change and a heightened motivation to work toward a greener, more equitable and sustainable world. Through project based learning, energy and resource conservation, local food production and eco and food justice concepts are explored with guidance and instruction from experienced urban farmers and environmentalists. Participants enjoy lunch together each Sunday (please bring a bag lunch).
Enrollment is limited. Certificates will be awarded. To sign up and secure a space or if you have questions, please email FarmSchoolDirector@kamii.org. For updates and additional information please visit www.kamii.org/farmschool
