CCGA Resources Committee June-July Plant Distributions

The Resources Committee held two Mini Distributions of vegetable and ornamental annual plant material in June, with more than 25 community gardens participating in each. Nick Michaud of Westover Farms donated beautiful vegetable seedlings as well as many flats of unusual annuals for these events. Thanks to all who participated!

On July 23, the Resources Committee distributed 3000 perennials that were donated by Elite Growers (2600 plants), Westover Farms. and an anonymous private gardener. Dozens of community gardeners came early to help sort the plants into 80+ groups. Angela Taylor brought the Garfield Park Community Council’s summer youth group, and these young people were the best! Everyone participated with such a positive and willing attitude that we had the plants sorted in just over an hour! 85 community gardens sent representatives to receive plants. The GPCC students did a great job loading the plants in the cars. Thanks very much to everyone who participated, and especially to the excellent volunteers.
