Gateway Gardens are four separate parcels that “Welcome” passing vehicles and pedestrians to the lovely community of Edgewater. These gardens are located at the intersections of Hollywood/Ridge/Magnolia Avenues in Chicago. (5800 N/1200W). The gardens are currently tended by a group of knowledgeable neighborhood residents who need assistance from additional volunteers in maintaining these lovely ornamental areas.

We are excited to share what we know. Please share with us as well. We would especially welcome individuals who have experience in the following:

  • sustainable gardening
  • choosing & installing flowers and shrubs that tolerate extremes in weather
  • mentoring and teaching gardening techniques to local students who periodically volunteer at the Gateway Gardens on service work days
  • choosing & installing flowers and shrubs that tolerate extremes in weather
  • planning events and raising both funds and awareness about this space and the fact that is a community managed land trust
